The Met Office has revealed when we could next see snow after the UK was battered by torrential rain and icy temperatures over the last few days.
Large parts of the country had their first dusting of snow last week before the precipitation gave way to nationwide downpours. The forecaster has even been forced to issue several yellow weather warnings, the last of which ends at 11.59pm tonight (Thursday, December 7).
With Brits understandably fed up with the wet weather, many are wondering when we can next expect to be blanketed in the white stuff once again. Unfortunately, those looking forward to throwing snowballs and building snowmen may be waiting a while as the weekend is expected to bring more rain.

The Met Office forecast reads: "Unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain, with the best of any sunshine reserved for the east. Generally windy with coastal gales across Wales and the southwest. Mild."
Temperatures could even climb to as high as 13C โ which would see any chances of snow dashed for the time being. However, with the mercury set to slump back down later in the week, there is a possibility we may see some flakes again next week.

It's even more likely we'll see snow and ice over the festive period, with the Met Office warning we might even get a White Christmas. This is thanks to a Polar plume making its way down across Scotland on December 23, the day before Christmas Eve.
The forecaster's long-range prediction, which runs from December 20 to January 3, says conditions are likely to be "unsettled." "The chance of a colder spell of weather, with hazard such as snow and ice, does increase later in December and into the New Year period," it said. However, while there is hope yet for snow on December 25, the weather experts said conditions are more likely to remain "mild and wet".
The actual likelihood of a White Christmas will become more evident in the run-up to the big day.
