North Korea involved in Putins war in Ukraine as weapons fears grow

The President of South Korea has warned that North Korea is someway ‘involved’ in the war between Russia and Ukraine.

During a meeting with leadership from the USA, President Yoon Suk Yeol told delegates that the hermit country has ‘something to do’ with the war – directly and indirectly.

On Sunday, Yonhap News Agency reported that the fears about Ukraine – and similar fears about the war between Israel and Hamas – were raised in a meeting between U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Charles Q. Brown Jr. in Seoul.

President Yoon emphasised the importance of a combined defensive position between allies against North Korea. Secretary Austin reaffirmed Biden’s commitment to the two countries’ alliance.

The news comes as earlier this week, South Korean military officials announced that North Korea may have provided Russia with short-range ballistic missiles, as well as artillery shells and other weapons.

Seoul estimated that Kim Jong Un shipped a staggering 2,000 containers of weapons and munitions to Vladivostock in Far East Russia, double the 1,000 containers reported by the White House a month ago.
