Owner of XL bullys that mauled man descrbed beast as ‘mean-looking f***er’

The owner of the two XL Bully dogs who mauled a man to death described the dog a "mean-looking f***er".

Ian Price was killed after the animals dashed into his 89-year-old mum Beryl's garden opposite his house, prompting the repairman to run to her rescue on Thursday (September 14).

Witnesses then watched in horror as Mr Price, 52, was savaged by the dogs as they went into a "frenzy", with one neighbour trying to beat the beasts with sticks in a bid to save the man.

Armed police were called to the scene in Stonnall, Staffordshire, just after 3pm, accompanied by a dog unit.

But it was too late for the Aston Villa fan, who was flown to hospital in Birmingham but succumbed to his injuries that evening.

Mr Price was the sixth person killed in a dog attack this year in England alone, prompting calls for the creatures to be banned UK-wide.

The owner of the dogs, a 30-year-old was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and having dogs dangerously out of control and was released on bail yesterday morning (Friday, September 15).

One of his dogs died after being strangled using a dogcatcher pole, while the other was killed after its owner gave permission for it to receive a lethal injection.

The owner had previously posted to Facebook showing off his pets, with one photo showing a photo of his child in front of the beasts.

Captioning the post, he called one of his animals a "mean-looking f***er".

In another comment he estimated each dog would grow to at least 70kg by the time they were seven months old.

The news comes after Rishi Sunak announced plans earlier this week to ban American XL Bullies by the end of the year.

The Prime Minister appeared in a video posted to social media on Friday where he declared attacks by the breed "cannot go on".

"I share the nation’s horror at the recent videos we’ve all seen," he said.

"It is clear this is not about a handful of badly trained dogs, it’s a pattern of behaviour and it cannot go on.

"While owners already have a responsibility to keep their dogs under control, I want to reassure people that we are urgently working on ways to stop these attacks and protect the public."

The PM also said he had asked ministers to consult police and experts as they look to define the breed "with the view to then outlawing it".

When a dog is added to the banned list it makes it illegal for anyone in the UK to own, breed or sell it.

Four breeds are currently on the list – the Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino and Fila Brasileiro.

Anyone with a banned dog can have their pooch confiscated by police or the local council dog warden – even if it hasn't acted in a dangerous way and no complaints have been made about it.

Owners of illegal dogs could be convicted of a crime, which could land you with an unlimited fine, a prison sentence of up to six months, or both.

Your dog could also be destroyed.
