Putin scrambles as dozens of drones shot down over Russian cities

The Russian Defence Ministry announced today that it successfully downed 31 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Kyiv overnight.

The drones were intercepted over the regions of Belgorod, Bryansk, and Kursk, all bordering Ukraine. The operation was revealed in a statement released on Telegram by the Russian defence ministry early this morning.

The statement read, “On the night of October 4, attempts by the Kyiv regime to carry out terrorist attacks on targets on the territory of the Russian Federation were stopped. Air defence systems on duty over the territory of the Belgorod, Bryansk, and Kursk regions intercepted and destroyed 31 Ukrainian aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles.”

While the Russian Defence Ministry confirmed the interception of the drones, there is no information available regarding potential casualties or damage resulting from the incident.

Additionally, in a separate incident, Ukrainian forces reportedly fired cluster munitions at several villages in the Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz, the regional governor, wrote on Telegram.

No casualties were reported in these attacks. However, several homes sustained damage as a result of the assault.
