The clip shows a man pulling his arm out of the water to reveal the beast attached to his forearm.
He thrashes around on the pier and screams out as he tries to free himself of the shark.
The beast itself appears bloodied from the face, but the clip comes to an end before we see the outcome of the tussle.
The footage quickly went viral after surfacing online on Sunday, but most viewers suggested not all was as it seems.
Instagram user ocean_magazine – who re-posted from "oceanskeeper" wrote: “What is really happening here is that this man has captured a juvenile scalloped hammerhead, slaughtered it, ripped out it's teeth and jaws, and thrusted his arm down its throat.
“He repeatedly smashes its head and body against the dock while screaming for help and looking like an absolute w***** while doing so.
“Not only does this video falsely display a shark attack that onlookers might see and certainly viewers online will watch, but he will inadvertently put all fishermen into the same basket for all those viewers.
“The level of disrespect shown by the man and his friends is inconceivable.”
It comes after a gigantic nine-foot shark attacked a diver in a heart-stopping video.
