‘Stop trying to contact aliens – it could destroy us all,’ expert warns

An alien expert has issued an ominous warning โ€“ stop trying to contact them or we'll all be in danger.

Dr Franck Marchis, a senior planetary astronomer from the SETI institute, has spoken out after old comments about the dangers of contacting aliens resurfaced. In 2021, physicist Mark Buchanan claimed that contacting aliens would be dangerous, and advised not to do it.

And this week, speaking to Salon, Dr Marchis shed some light on just how dangerous it could be โ€“ in short, very. Comparing them to ants, he said: โ€œIf they can travel to visit us, their technology is probably way ahead of ours, including maybe having a way to travel faster than light.

โ€œIf they don't like us or donโ€™t consider us to be intelligent, they could probably wipe us out quickly, so yes, this is a frightening prospect. They could be like ants, with a queen in charge, like in the movie 'Aliens', or they could be like big cats that hunt alone and might come to our solar system to hunt, like in the movie 'Predator.'

โ€œThey could also be like the aliens in the TV show 'V,' who see our planet as a resource and want to use us and our water, or they might see us as a threat and want to destroy us before we get too advanced, like in the movie 'Independence Day.'โ€

The search for alien life took a huge leap forward this year, with NASA failing to rule out that many of the UFO /UAP's spotted on flying around Earth were controlled by beings of another world. And the space agency even appointed someone whose sole job it is is to take on the task of alien hunting.

However, Dr. Steve Desch, an astrophysics professor at Arizona State University, United States, cast doubt on any of it actually working โ€“ and that if it did, that aliens would be an enemy of Earth. He said: โ€œIt's a completely silly premise once you realize the amount of technology and the magnitude of effort it would take to cross light years of space to fight a war like that.
