A Ukrainian power plant outage has caused a "threat to radiation safety" after the energy output at the nuclear reactor suffered a "complete blackout".
Reports from the Russian-held Zaporizhzhia-based nuclear power plant allege the safety of the area is under threat after the generators keeping the power on were cut completely. A running list of "safety threats" soon followed.
Worries over the state of the radiation leaking out of the suddenly stopped plant were a concern for Telegram users overnight, with fears main equipment could have been impacted by the outage.

It would appear the blackout has since been fixed, but a report has warned a further blackout could pose a "threat to nuclear and radiation safety".
A Telegram report read: "Another blackout occurred at the Zaporizhzhia NPP. There is a threat to radiation safety. Tonight a complete blackout took place at the Zaporizhzhia NPP."
They believe a "power transmission line" was left without power and de-energized, causing a blackout which left nuclear power plant workers scrambling to resolve. The report continued: "All 20 diesel generators turned on automatically.
"The biggest safety threat in this state exists at power unit 4. It is caused by the fact that the occupiers used it in violation of the terms of the license for the operation of nuclear reactor installations of the Ukrainian regulator and kept it in a hot state.
"De-energization of the main circulation pumps that cool the active zone leads to the transition of the reactor installation to the mode of natural circulation." Said state can lead to "failure of the main equipment" used in the power plant process.
Thankfully Ukrainian specialists were on hand to solve the trouble, and as of 7am today (December 2), the plant is back up and running.
The report concluded: "The operation of the 750 kV power transmission line was restored. Another blackout poses a threat to nuclear and radiation safety."
