Beautiful European country voted ‘cheapest’ where rent is as little as £180

The “cheapest” country in Europe has been named where rent costs less than £200 per month and meals out cost just £5.

Bulgaria is a top pick for budget-friendly European holidays, and it’s easy to see why.

It may not be as well-known as Greece, but it offers beautiful beaches, historic towns, ancient ruins, and vibrant cities – all at a much lower cost.

Despite being mostly undiscovered by travelers, Bulgaria is a popular choice for an affordable summer holiday by the Black Sea.

The beach break here costs much less than in countries like Italy, Spain, or Greece.

Plus, the Varna region, which borders the Black Sea, boasts many relaxed beach resorts and charming towns.

Visiting Bulgaria out of season can be even cheaper, and there’s still plenty to do.

The Central Balkan National Park is perfect for hiking and enjoying panoramic views, while the mountains are great for winter skiing.

Bulgaria is also known for its inexpensive ski resort in wintertime.

Borovets is a ski resort in southwest Bulgaria, offering 52km of pistes and set among the mountains in Rila National Park at an altitude of 1,390m.
